Our vision

Cambridge Medical Innovation was founded in 2020 as the commercial vehicle for a number of new applications designed to improve flow and efficiency in NHS ophthlamology services, facilitate early detection of disease, benefit child health and reduce inequalities in the delivery of healthcare.
Ophthalmology has the largest outpatient load in the NHS - nearly 10m appointments per year - and the second largest waiting list.

Every patient needs a vision test, and DigiVis DVA self-testing in clinic will speed flow, make better use of space and free up staff. Use for remote self-testing will facilitate video consultation, saving clinician time and patient travel and has social and environmental benefits, helping providers to meet the NHS five year and green plan targets.
Our eye+dot triage tool will assist urgent and emergency care teams to ensure patients with eye problems are directed to the right service, where their needs can be quickly and effectively met, without adding unecessarily to the burden of emergency departments.
Over time, we intend to add additional vision tests, such as for visual fields and colour vision, as well as an accurate hearing test.

Enabling accurate self-testing in the community will pave the way for an integrated facility to address the chronic lack of provision of vision and hearing screening for year 4 school children, with all the avoidable health and developmental disadvantages that this brings.
